Ocean Universal in Westcourt, Cairns carries a large spearfishing range. That's no accident — the shop traded as Spearfishing Superstore, and spearfishing hasn't gone anywhere.
In stock you'll find rail spearguns, spearfishing wetsuits, long-blade fins, low-volume masks, weight belts, floats, dive knives, and general spearo accessories. Gear is suited to tropical spearfishing — not see this southern stock that doesn't suit FNQ.
The name changed to Ocean Universal because the business had already added scuba and freediving gear over the years. But the spearo side hasn't been reduced. Spearfishing is still the backbone of the store.
Staff are spearos themselves and advise on what works on Great Barrier Reef spots.
